Co-Founders

KRISTEN KARDOS, MA ED, CLC, PPD

Kristen has been coordinating and facilitating new moms' groups since 2006. She received a BA in Spanish and Education from Boston College and graduated with a Masters in Education Administration from NYU. She taught Spanish and ESL classes in MA, RI, CA, and NY. Having worked with students from around the world, Kristen embraces diversity and enjoys meeting new people. She is a DONA trained post partum doula who has been working with moms & families since 2009. She is co-chair for the Women & Infants Ob Patient Advisory Council; a member of Doulas of RI and the RI Birth Network; and a contributing writer for kidoinfo.  She also dabbles in blog writing where she answers questions emailed to her from mamas.  Her most important job is being "Mommy" to Drew and Dean, her wondrous little boys, and her baby girl, Melia Joy.

 

KATHY MCGUIGAN, LICSW

Kathy has been working with women and children for 20 years. As a social worker, she has provided services for women and children in a variety of settings including shelters, community health centers, and schools. The support Kathy received during her pregnancy and as a new mother inspired Kathy's work with pregnant and parenting women. Facilitating New Mom and Pregnancy Support Groups combine her passion for motherhood with her professional skills and experience. She is also a member of the Board of Directors for Brown Play School and a member of the RI Birth Network, as well as a contributing writer for kidoinfo. Kathy received a BA in Psychology and Women's Studies from Fairfield University and her Masters Degree in Social Work from UC Berkeley, but she is currently receiving the best education of her life from her two delightful children: Alex and Kyle.
